Sid, Soccer Player - Real Skin Stories
Sid has loved soccer since he was three years old. It’s always been a huge part of his life - the game, the team, the feeling of everyone coming together. But when his skin became red, spot-prone and uncomfortable, it started to affect more than just how he looked. It impacted how he felt in himself and that carried onto the pitch.
After trying different products and seeing no results, things felt frustrating and demoralising. Q&A
How would you describe your skin when it was at its worst?
For me, my skin was open and very red. I had lots of spots everywhere as well and it was quite prickly.
What was the lowest point for you during that time?
The lowest point for me was definitely when I got told my face was like a dot to dot.
How did your skin affect you mentally and emotionally?
It was quite demoralising to be honest, because every time you use something, you’re spending your money as well, but you don’t see any results. And that’s never a good thing.
How did your skin impact you when playing soccer?
For me, I feel like when you play any sport, if you feel good within yourself, you’re going to play well. And for me, I didn’t feel the best, which means that it translated to the pitch as well.
What changed for you, and how does your skin feel now?
I started to notice a change when my mother commented on things and I realised it was actually working. When the red patches started to go away, that’s when I really realised it was the right product for me. Now, my skin is quite smooth and it’s not patchy at all, which is really good because it helps with my confidence.
What would you say to someone going through something similar?
It’s a long journey. It’s not an overnight thing. It takes time. I’d say start now, because it’s something where if you do now, you’re going to be grateful for it down the line - whether that’s in a few weeks, months or even years.
