When you suffer with acne, it’s easy to think that everyone around you has perfect skin.
Especially if you take a quick scroll through your social media.
But the truth is, behind the filters and make-up, even the most famous among us get spots.
Here are a few people who have spoken out about their struggles with their skin, and some of them might surprise you…
At the 2018 Golden Globes, Supermodel, Kendall was commended for "strutting her acne" by a fan, and replied by tweeting “never let that s*** stop you”.
She said in a recent interview "I experienced [acne] at two different times in my life. One being high school, when all you're trying to do is be accepted and be part of something, and I wouldn't even look people in the eyes when I would speak to them.
The next time it came around, I was supposed to be this model who has everything together. That's never the case, first of all — good skin or not. But the whole world is looking at you, and it's like a magnifying glass on everything that you do and what happens to you."
Actress, Cameron Diaz opened up about her battle with acne in her teens and early twenties, in her book 'The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body'.
"I had terrible, terrible, skin" she wrote. "It was awkward and embarrassing and frustrating, and I always felt really bad about myself."
Singer, Katy Perry spoke in a recent interview with Elle Australia about how her acne flared up when she first started to become famous in her early twenties, as it was such a stressful period.
She talked about how one of her biggest insecurities were her acne scars, and how she often wears a lot of make-up to cover them up, because she feels so self-conscious.
Actress, Emma Stone has spoken openly about her struggles with cystic acne and how she went on Accutane (a very strong medication for clearing acne) as a teenager.
When she filmed Easy A, her acne was actually digitally removed from the film!
She has spoken about how it was ‘debilitating and embarrassing’ when she was going through it, especially in the public eye.
Actress and TV personality, Keke Palmer opened up about her struggles with hormonal acne over the years, in a beautifully honest Instagram post (see below).
Miley Cyrus, now 28, has spoken out several times about her struggles with acne as a teenager, and how she still has a strict skin care routine to keep it under control.
She is stringent about always taking her make-up off and washing her make-up brushes, to help prevent blemishes.
She told The Cut: "I had kind of bad skin when I was younger and that was always my insecurity, especially being on TV… You think that's the only thing people can see… You get out of control, you start reaching for whatever and you end up messing up your face. Let professionals do it and don't start getting in there and giving yourself scars."
Actress, Mindy Kaling, shared a relatable and refreshingly funny Instagram post about a recent breakout, just before she went on the Tonight Show (see below).
Victoria Beckham has talked about her struggles with hormonal acne, scars and flare ups throughout her adult life.
It was particularly difficult during her twenties, during her rise to fame. Although she says her acne is more under control now, she still suffers from breakouts and keeps to a strict skin care routine to help prevent blemishes.
And the list goes on... so many celebrities and influencers suffer with skin concerns and blemishes, even if it might appear they have 'flawless' skin every time you see photos of them.
Rest assured that it's completely normal to get spots, and pretty much everyone gets them!
